1JV10 (2024-1) Organisational behaviour for industrial engineering

Industrial engineers solve problems, and what problem is more intricate than the human factor? In this course you – as an industrial engineer – will learn how to address such matters by learning about human process (re-)design; optimizing individual, group, and organizational performance; and diagnosing, designing, and developing complex human ecosystems. Throughout this course, you will be systematically confronted with contemporary global organizational challenges and you will need to solve complex business-related problems. You are encouraged to apply work and organizational psychological theories in an attempt to understand, diagnose, design, and develop human systems at work.

The course employs a blended-learning approach and consists of short lectures, self-study, individual assignments, group work, and workshops, and includes performing advanced statistical analyses. During the live plenary and tutorial sessions, the course content will be introduced, specific statistical analytical- and report-writing skills will be taught, and feedback on assignments will be provided. Compulsory work groups are employed to discuss and generate solutions for multidimensional organizational problems. Altogether, this will give you invaluable insights into the role of the Industrial Engineer as a human process designer.
